about

"Each project, each person that I collaborate with, including the directors, photographers, HMUAs and other stylists, have deeply and positively influenced me as an artist, as a woman, and now, as a mother."

#THISISNIKI

Niki Hall is a New York City based fashion stylist and creative consultant. In 2001, a chance meeting with Patricia Field, costume designer for the iconic series Sex in the City, would forever alter the course of her life by opening Niki’s eyes to the possibility of building a career centered around her love of all things fashion.

Another pivotal life moment for Niki happened when she was a young teen and her family moved from Denver, CO to Northern Virginia. Here, the unique opportunity to apprentice under prominent silversmith Yvonne Arritt, a local artist commissioned by the Smithsonian Institution to create sculptures and silverware to sell at their museum shops, sparked Niki’s desire to study both creative arts and business. So, she decided to pursue a degree in International Business at the prestigious Howard University, in Washington D.C., with the aspiration of starting her own design business one day. She then furthered her education in Fashion History and Costume Studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, followed by Textile Design at Central St Martin’s in London. These experiences and travels helped shape her global aesthetic and continue to influence her perspective on the custom-tailored styles she produces for individuals and big name brands alike.

Today, Niki’s creative vision can be seen across projects ranging from designing costumes for commercials, television and film, styling looks for the runway, and curating closets for celebrities. No stage is too big: from dressing Jemele Hill for a televised town hall with President Barack Obama to styling nearly every performer for the annual NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show (2010-2022), Niki brings a customized approach to each project.

As the Style Director of Maison Black, Niki is currently focused on providing brand direction to emerging Black designers. She has also had the honor of collaborating with reknowned sculptor Simone Leigh on several of her acclaimed projects, including designing costumes for her art films featured in the Guggenheim Museum and at the Berlin Biennial. Most recently, Niki designed the costume for The Washer Woman sculpture, a part of Simone’s award-winning installation at the 2022 Venice Biennale Arte Exhibition.

A combination of determination, talent, and passion has helped Niki become a major creative force across many industries. She has led large, multi-functional teams and has garnered recognition in top publications from Vogue to Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List, and has even contributed work on Emmy-nominated projects. Niki is also a distinguished member of the esteemed union, IATSE United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829.

After two decades in the industry, Niki has stamped her unique vision across all forms of media as she continually challenges herself to explore new frontiers of creative expression.
